What's crackin'? Today was the day we've waited for ever since the Smash Ballot opened up. Yes, the Final Smash Presentation. "Final Smash." You get it?

Joking aside, I normally don't make posts like this but with today being such a huge event for Super Smash Bros. I couldn't resist. I've seen the direct and all Sakurai has left to offer and I wanted to share my thoughts on it.

WARNING! SPOILERS APPROACHING!

There are three new DLC characters we're expecting. One who we already knew about and two that were announced today. Here's what I think of each of them.

Cloud (Final Fantasy): I'm gonna get killed in my sleep for this. But I've never played a single Final Fantasy game at all. Hell, I don't even know where to start. What number are they on now, like 50? To many of us, Cloud was very unexpected because he seemed more like a Sony kind of guy. I guess his inclusion is a way to promote the Final Fantasy VII remake, even though that game's not coming to Nintendo. At first I kind of "ehh" about Cloud's inclusion because his moveset looked very close to Ike's, who I've mained since Brawl. And I didn't like the idea of another character being a knockoff of one of my favorites. However, I'm also fine with his inclusion because at least we get a newcomer instead of a veteran. That's what we want right, newcomers? Not someone we've played before like Wolf. So I'm thankful for that. Don't think I'll play as Cloud very much, however. I'll stick with Ike. The Midgar stage looks awesome. Though I'm sure it'll be banned. Still, my "ehh" opinion of him hasn't changed in the slightest. He still seems like a pseudo-clone of Ike to me in the similar vein of Captain Falcon and Ganondorf.

Corrin (Fire Emblem Fates): Sakurai did say he was a fan of Fire Emblem so Corrin was kind of predictable. But he's not like a generic swordfighter and doesn't come close to Marth or Ike. He's got a lot of style and grace and looks fun to play as. Much better than just throwing in another ordinary swordsman. His moveset helps him stand out from the rest like Robin does. That's what we need, variety. Fates is still only currently available in Japan but will receive a western release next year. Hey, Roy was made a fighter in Melee even before his actual game, right? He/she, depending on what gender you prefer, gets the LightningRod728 Seal of Approval.

Now it's time for the Smash Ballot winner. I'm not going to make a dramatic build-up so I'll just go right to it.

Bayonetta (Bayonetta): the #1 most voted character for the Smash Ballot. She is the sixth third party character to be added, as much as we didn't think anymore were necessary. I have no knowledge of her series at all but judging by her moveset, she looks like a very interesting character. Probably the most unique out of all the DLC fighters. Though I didn't really expect her since she's from an M-rated franchise but hey, so was Snake. It looks like Ganondorf's going to have some tough competition. Given her moveset, she looks like she's going to be a very competitive go-to for a lot of people. Hell, look at that recovery. While I do think she seems the most out of place, she does bring something totally different to the all-star brawler. I wasn't really hoping for her but I'm convinced. Bayonetta is welcome in my book. Fun fact: During development, there was once a rumor that said Zero Suit Samus was originally going to be Bayonetta but the idea was scrapped. And if you look closely at ZSS, especially her boots, she really does remind you of Bayonetta. But today, this still remains an unsolved mystery.

So of the three, which one is my favorite? I think I'd have to go with Corrin but Bayonetta is close behind. Don't care a lot about Cloud. I'm disappointed that the likes of Isaac or the Inklings didn't make it but I'm still satisfied with the result. It's a million times better than adding another Pokemon or Mario fighter to the 100 that we already have. I love to be the one to tell you but your beloved Toadette, Daisy, Birdo, Sceptile, Waddle Dee, K. Rool, Ice Climbers, Wolf, Banjo, and Shantae are officially dead. And I'm gonna savor every drop of the tears. Hey, my character didn't get in either but you don't see me bitching.

Still, the scar remains and the emptiness is not filled. RIP Isaac. The original protagonist of Golden Sun who won't live to fight another day. I really thought he had so much potential and would've stood out as a very unique character among the rest. As a magic user like Robin instead of a generic swordfighter. But alas, the Golden Sun has set. Best of luck in Smash 5, old friend. I'll still never forget you.

Nevertheless, there's still a huge thanks in order for Sakurai for dedicating his time to creating the latest installment of the all-star brawler. This man worked night and day to bring us the greatest Super Smash Bros. yet, sacrificing his vacation time and sleep to please us. In fact, he should've been on vacation last year and he would've gotten it but we demanded DLC. Instead of bitching, moaning, and whining that your favorite didn't make it in, show some appreciation toward the man. Thank you very much, Sakurai. We're all very grateful for your hard work. And enjoy your well deserved time off. Now go to sleep.

And that does it, Smash fans. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/Nintendo 3DS will go down in history and will certainly be something we can tell our grandchildren about. With that, Super Smash Bros. is a wrap. Until the fifth game comes, and let's be real. Yes, there will be one. Smash is money maker, after all. To all those who didn't recieve their precious character, better luck next time. Just enjoy the game for what it is now and be grateful Sakurai worked so hard on it to please us.

Thanks for coming by. Don't slip on the tears on your way out and help yourself to the tissues.
